Battenwear

Battenwear is part of a small yet significant cohort of outdoors-inspired brands operating of the USA with indelible Japanese influence. Head designer Shinya Hasegawa can be considered a founding father of this niche alongside Daiki Suzuki of Engineered Garments, who Hasegawa worked with during a prior stint at Woolrich Woolen Mills. This CV is the perfect setup for Battenwear’s pursuit of well made clothing capable of handling all activities while still looking good and being comfortable to wear. Of course, drawing from the golden period of the late 1960s to early 1980s across surf and outdoors culture helps, too. Hasegawa adds an extra layer of practicality to Battenwear’s tote bags, parkas and pants through handy features, including packability and ease of washing.
